Staying Steady on Your Feet

Falls are preventable. Balance is trainable.

Falls are the leading cause of injury for adults over 65, but they are not inevitable. Balance naturally declines with age, but it responds well to practice. Simple exercises like standing on one foot while brushing your teeth, tai chi, or yoga can measurably improve your stability. Equally important: review your medications for dizziness side effects, keep your home well-lit, and remove tripping hazards. Prevention is far easier than recovery.
